Three members of the Beyond Definition team are presenting at the Fall 2019 Undergraduate Marketing Conference (UMC): Connect the Dots. Mark DeVito, Partner and President, Amanda McCarthy, Director of Marketing, and Jenna Lally, Marketing Strategist are preparing to take the stage on November 8, 2019 at the Van Munching Hall in College Park, Maryland.

UMC attracts undergraduate students from around the region to learn and participate in workshops focusing on facets of marketing, including content strategy, brand integration, leveraging social media, and big data analytics. The workshops will not only be led by Beyond Definition, but also by marketing professionals from Stanley Black & Decker and Rosetta Stone.

The theme of this year’s conference is Connect the Dots and it aims to highlight all the individual aspects of marketing and show how they are interconnected, working together to create an overall message. Mark will be presenting the keynote address to kickoff the conference and Amanda and Jenna will be hosting a workshop later in the day on persona development.

A Keynote Address from Mark DeVito

Mark DeVito will kickoff the day with an opening keynote address that ties into the overall theme of connecting the dots for attendees’ future careers through the lens of his own journey in marketing that led him to become President of Beyond Definition. He will cover past, present, and future insights from the marketing industry,  tips on how to be flexible with the changing times, what is expected from young adults in this industry, an overview of the Beyond Definition rebrand, and much more!

Developing Audience Personas to Strengthen A Buyer’s Journey

Beyond Definition’s marketing experts, Amanda and Jenna will outline how to develop and utilize personas during their workshop session, “Developing Audience Personas to Strengthen A Buyer’s Journey.”  They will lead an interactive discussion around the benefits of creating buyer personas, understanding their interests, and knowing which content resonates with them on the right channels. The session will conclude with a workshop that walks students through the persona development process, complete with real-world persona applications.

UMC is an annual event hosted by The University of Maryland (UMD) chapter of the American Marketing Association.  For more information, visit the UMC Eventbrite page.
