Project Manager (Magazine Production Experience)

We are looking to hire an experienced (3+ years) Project Manager to lead ongoing magazine production workflows and management with our clients and internal teams. This position coordinates on magazine production needs with the Account Management team as part of the overall health of existing and new accounts. Our ideal candidate is motivated to be part of a growing, fast-paced team and has experience managing magazine production. We are looking for a candidate who has had a proven track record of successful projects for clients large and small, with a preference for those in the mission- and member-driven space, but not required.

Project Types

This position will primarily lead ongoing magazine production workflows, but will have the opportunity to contribute to the other types of projects we work on as an agency. From branding and visual identity to marketing strategy and campaigns, to website and collateral design and development, this role will keep you on your toes. If it requires audience-first out-of-this-world insights, mission-critical strategy, or stellar design and development, we’re over the moon about it.

The Position

The Project Manager oversees our in-house designed magazines to ensure we meet customer expectations and specifications. On a daily basis, the Project Manager will be the main point of contact for our clients, and coordinate with the Project Management team on the production, scheduling, and utilization of our internal team resources. You’ll report to the Account Director and work closely with the rest of our Account and Project Management team.

Qualifications

Need to have

  • Minimum three years of print magazine production and project management experience.
  • Working knowledge of print production and press-ready standards, PMS/color management, mailing and shipping logistics.
  • Experience with Mac studio using Adobe Creative Cloud software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and MS Office.
  • Working knowledge of font usage and management.
  • Comfortability working both independently and with the team.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Experience with Project Management Software such as Basecamp, Box, Workamajig.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and be the main point of contact for magazine production throughout project life cycles.
  • Manage internal magazine team resources (tasks and timing), daily trafficking, and forecasting.
  • Coordinate of logistics and estimates for outside magazine resources and vendors.
  • Monitor, track, and report account/project budgets to Account Management team as needed.
  • Oversight of image and photo touch-ups and manipulation as needed.
  • Pre-flight, Quality Assurance, and proofing for incoming and outgoing files.
  • Resolve any workflow issues that arise during production.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all software, equipment, and work techniques.

Compensation

  • Starting salary based on experience
